Okay! Here is the finished product of the Brock Samson lineart in my gallery. I scanned the original, printed a copy, and drew stencil lines over the orignals with a sharpie. He was my second attempt, Dr. Girlfriend was my experiment. Ooo. That sounded bad. Ahem. What I mean, was that these two were my first "make your own stencil" attempts ever. Not too shabby, eh? BTW, my husband insisted on carving this, and he also insisted I post it, so... yeah. It was a joint effort.
I do not own Brock Samson!!! But if I did.... (ahem) He is (c) Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer. Go Team Venture!
LMAO- That actually wasn't supposed to happen! *scratches head* Well... I guess in summary I'm totally going to try and carve a VB pumpkin next year because I've been inspired! I think I'll try to put the Monarch logo into some poor unsuspecting little orange vegetable (/fruit?!)... We'll see how that goes! XD
Well, cool! I'm glad to inspire anyone to do anything other than spit at the screen at my pics or scream obscenities. If I can be of any assistance, let me know. (I learned a couple of tricks in the process, though I sure they're certainly no secret to anyone who makes their own stencils) I did see an attempt at the monarch logo on the internet somewhere, and they ended up doing a lot of propping with toothpicks. Looked good, though.

LMAO. I like to scream obscenities before I met you
Yes, I will surely come to you screaming in September! I'm going to keep you to that! (I'd imagine someone with experience could definitely help me, because I've never made a stencil even though I imagine it's easy enough. Also, someone on LiveJournal did a Monarch one & it turned out ok ).
LOL- I'm alread collecting things for my Triana costume and it's like, what, not even Christmas so I'm preparing for Halloween 2007 hardcore XD
LMAO. Oh, I scream obscenities all the time. (I try to make sure my kids aren't around, though) I just don't want people cursing my pics 'cuz they suck or something. I'll accept positive obscenities anytime! (hell yeah, etc)
I'd be glad to help you out anytime. Those were my first attempts at making my own stencils, and Dr. G was my guinea pig, as I'm sure you can tell. Things went much more smoothly with this one.
I think the one on live journal might have been the one I saw, but I can't remember. Sounds right. I can't wait to see the Triana costume!

LOL- Can do! Positive obscenities will definitely be part of our dialogue when something good comes up ^____^
Really, I was surprised at the accuracy of the lines in this one (and Dr. G) because I always screw up basic pumpkin smiles! Did you cut out the main components of the sketch that shouldn't be cut & cut around them, or did you stick on parts that should? ((Oh my it's been a long time since I did a pumpkin... I have no idea how you're supposed to do it anymore ))
Are you on LiveJournal by chance, m'dear? Yes, the big oaf of a friend that's holding me up in my 'Mecha Shiva' picture has decidedly decided to go as Orpheus (he's already got a goatee) so I figured I need to gets me a purple wig!
Hells yeah! Actually, all I did was the two line art drawings of them in my gallery. After scanning and printing, I just went back over my pre-existing lines with sharpie again, only making them thicker (sometimes vaguely triangular, if that makes sense) and non-connecting. Dr. G was a big help in learning where and how to separate those lines. So I guess it was mostly feel. Then I just taped the new "stencil" on, (pain in the ass), and used one of those cheapy kits with the serrated blades and pokers to transfer it over. Not too bad at all.
I am not on Live journal, but I peruse through from time to time. Actually, this is about the only thing I am on. Maybe someday I'll catch up. Costumes sound like fun.

Brilliant! Thanks! (Now I won't have to come crying to you on Oct. 30th yelling "What do I do?!" ) Yes, I'll probably post my line art before then so you can take a look-see.... (I get the not-connected & triangular part!)
I was only ever on LJ for a long time, but I'm really happy I joined here!
