Bring out yer dead... but I'm not dead yet!!

Mon Jul 13, 2009, 12:25 AM
Wowzers, Penny! I have neglected this page FAR too long. We are finally done with moving, and successfully in a new squadron in WA state. I can even begin to express how happy I am to finally be living back in the NW. We're close to family for the first time since we got married, and everyone is enjoying it. (the girls and the grandparents, especially) There is still some drama with the buyers of our house in TX, but that will be over with one way or another in the next couple of days.

Art-wise, I have gotten absolutely NOTHING accomplished. It's shameful. Do I have 3 kids 6 & under? Yes. Do I think that excuses me? No. I have quilts, drawings, jewelry... all these things I'm dying to do, but haven't seemed to be able to find the time recently. That should change now that I am back in my own house, hopefully. (i.e.- let those chores wait until tomorrow! Tonight I'm drawin'!) So if you happen to stop by, pester me into doin' stuff! It makes it harder for me to put off. ;)

Here's to hopin'!!

Debbie

Hey all, I know I haven't been very active as of late, but I swear I'm still here and kicking! (More in the mood for kickin' arse these days)

I am temporarily living in ID while waiting for my husband to PCS to Whidbey, and for our house to sell in TX. We're with family, and things are ALWAYS busy! I've been hoping more and more to make time for projects and art. I've got some things I'd like to draw, and a decent amount of sewing projects to do. Quilts are big on my mind as the cold winter makes me want to cuddle under them.

Soooo, new year, new projects. That's the idea, right? :D Wish me luck!

Be grateful for each new day. A new day that you have never lived before. Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably. We can squander, neglect or use it. Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.

Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it well and serenely with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Just a happy thought for your day. It always brightens mine. ;)

Here's to hoping I can keep posting stuff!! (Pumpkins are coming soon, at least!)

Hey there, everyone! I decided it had been way too long since I had posted a new journal. Or art, for that matter. I have had a lot of ideas lately, just not the time to execute them! Mostly I have been wanting to do more with inking my sketches. The more I do it, the less I am afraid of it! Yay! :w00t:

I would like to do some more "Ultimates" stuff, perhaps some Avatar, now that it's over :crying: and I STILL need to finish that koi drawing. Mostly, I just need to get back into the swing of making more time to work on art, which means breaking down and being more consistent about my daily chores/work. My oldest starts Kindergarten on the 25th, and my youngest just turned one at the beginning of the month, so that may help free things up a bit. :p

Anyway! Thanks for stopping by and checking my work out, and taking the time to read my rambling. Hopefully I'll have new stuff up soon!! (I know I keep saying that, but I really WANT to mean it this time!!)

Playing with clay

Well, howdy! I stopped and read my last journal and decided it was far past time for me to update it. I haven't had many chances to get art done lately... between managing the kids, dogs, and household, (and trying to keep up with my husband playing Oblivion... although he has started over a few times... I'm slower and more methodical) I haven't had much of a chance. I have an inked drawing of some koi that turned out WAY better than I ever could have expected that I need to finish and post.

I also just got a polymer clay book called, "Fairies, Gnomes and Trolls" by Maureen Carlson and have tried one project out of it. I''ve never really played seriously with Sculpey before, and I think for a first shot, it turned out well! I didn't use colored clay for my first try (a big pack of white was cheap) so I need to paint the little frog I made. I have the acrylics out, (which I haven't painted with in ages!!) so if I don't mangle him in the painting process I'll post him real soon.

I would still love a copy of Photoshop elements to call my very own (instead of just a trial version) but I haven't gotten around to it. As it always is with reality, there are more important things to spend the money on. One-a these days, though. Oh, and if you are one of the appreciated few that read this journal, in regards to my last post, my tonsils are STILL swollen, almost 5 months into it and 5 courses of antibiotics later. :ohnoes: My ENT just rescheduled my follow up appt for the 3rd time, so I think I'm going to look for a new one.

Anyway! Thanks for stopping by, but I have baby screaming to tend to. (nap time) Hopefully I'll be posting more really soon!!
